Trois Rivieres QC: Tough luck continued for the Klutt at GP3R resulting in a 13th place finish this past weekend at Canada’s oldest street circuit.

Klutt and the Poolsuppliescanada.ca team qualified 11th for the main event. “ We worked hard on the car in practice and figured that we should sacrifice a little bit of qualifying speed for a better long run race set up” said Klutt. By lap 4 of the race the teams hopes of a strong finish were in serious doubt, as a rear end leak resulted in gear oil being distributed to the rear tires all race.

1. Prevent algae before it grows

Sand Filters and Backwashing

The sand in a sand filter is specially graded to trap particles in the 20 - 100 micron range. As a sand filter collects dirt, its efficiency increases, trapping more dirt. "They say" that a sand bed should be replaced after seven years. Gradual loss of efficiency may be hard to notice if you don’t know what to look for. Here are some signs that it may be time to change the sand bed. If your filter requires frequent backwashing, every week or two, the sand bed may be "mudballed", or it may be "channeled". It may also "calcify" with calcium deposits. Other water balance problems may also contribute to sand deterioration, but a properly sized filter could go over 10 years between sand changes.
