I also have to say the timer totally wrecks what is otherwise a great product. On low it truly is whisper quiet as advertised, but the stupid timer has only 4 preset cycles and the minimum is 6 hours on high and 18 on low - always starts on high, no option to permanently select high or low! We have an 18 foot round above ground and our equipment is located close to the pool - so the high speed is something we only need for vacuuming or maybe after some heavy use or heavy circulation to balance the water, it could hurt someone swimming next to the return if the pump suddenly kicked into high. I paid the extra $ for the timer on the recommendation for this “option” but it has been the biggest headache. I would gladly write off the extra $30 I paid for this “option” if somebody could just tell me how to remove it, but the service rep said he didn’t know and would have to try to find out from Hayward. I’m already waiting for a response from Hayward because the technician I spoke to at Hayward couldn’t seem to locate a wiring diagram and told me it might be an “older model”????? so they would have to refer me to a senior technician. Will see how that goes I guess. Anyway, my overall experience with products and shipping and all that has been just fine, but this timer “extra” is just a pain.
Great pump and quiet. Was easy to set up with easy access to all ports. The only reason I give this 4 stars opposed to 5 is it's a two speed pump but you can't just run the pump at low speed if desired. The 24 hour timer allows 4 options for how many hours to run at full power and low but you can't select to simply run at the low speed. There is a manual override to run the pump at full power for 1 hour then it reverts back to the timer schedule. Seems the MFG took some short cuts in the electronics design and left you few options. Why not allow to bypass the timer when needed and just run at full or half speed. Now to be fair it's all listed in the documentation but I'd assumed when I bought it that the timer could be used as needed or bypassed. That was my ops...
