General Pool Maintenance
Regular pool maintenance is crucial for keeping your pool clean, safe, and in good working condition throughout the season. Here’s a general guide on the essential tasks you need to perform, and how often they should be done.
Daily Pool Maintenance
- Skim the Pool Surface: Use a skimmer to remove any leaves, debris, or bugs from the surface of the pool.
- Check Pool Pump & Equipment: Inspect the pool pump, filter, and other equipment to ensure they're running smoothly.
- Check Water Level: Check the water level to ensure it's at the proper height (about halfway up the skimmer).
- Clean Pool Skimmer & Pump Baskets: Use a pool brush to scrub the pool walls, tiles, and steps and manually vacuum the pool.
Weekly Pool Maintenance
Monthly Pool Maintenance
- Check Pool Equipment & Plumbing: Do a thorough check of all pool equipment and plumbing, including the pump, heater, and filter system.
Seasonal Pool Maintenance
- Inspect Pool Structure: Check the walls and floor for cracks, damage and signs of deterioration.
- Deep Clean Filters: Deep clean or replace the filter as needed to maintain water clarity.
- Clean Salt Cell: For saltwater pools, remove calcium buildup from the salt cell by completing a mild acid wash.
- Lubricate Seals & O-rings: Use a pool-friendly lubricant to oil seals, O-rings and gaskets to help prevent dryness that can lead to cracks or leaks.
- Check Sump Well: For inground pools with a sump well, start to check sump well 1 week after first thaw and continue to monitor until pool opening
