All Items Listed, Described and/or Sold as "Open Box" are Final Sale *(unless missing parts or defective)

Stop using sand in your filter! Easier to use, cleaner to change, better filtration!

Replace the sand in your new or existing sand filter with Filtra Balls Filter Media and experience the difference! Reusable, eco-friendly and made from 100% polyethylene, these tiny balls will last for years while filtering particles down to 3 microns. 1 box of Filtra Balls is equivalent to 50 pounds of normal filter sand!

Note: Is it recommended that you still add some sand (approx. 1 bag) to the bottom of your filter tank, prior to adding Filtra Balls, in order to support the filter laterals.

Features:

  • Alternative to Sand
  • High Dirt Capacity
  • Lowest Pressure Increase
  • No Clogging
  • Long Product Life, and Washer and Dryer Friendly!
  • Easy to Dispose of and Non Toxic
  • Light Weight for Easy Handling (one box weighs less then 2 pounds!)
  • Filters particles down to 3 microns

Instructions for Use - Must Read Before Using Product:

  1. Power down the pump, and open your filter tank
  2. Empty any existing media and/or sand from the tank and clean the tank thoroughly
  3. Add sand to the bottom of your filter tank - this is used to support the filters laterals (the amount of sand will vary based on your filter size, but generally, one bag of sand is suggested). Ensure your filter’s laterals are completely covered.
  4. Fill the rest of the filter with Filtra Balls Filter Media; 1 Box is the equivalent of adding 50 lbs of sand
  5. Close your filter tank
  6. Power on your pump and begin filtering again!

It is recommended you open your filter tank and rinse / clean off your Filtra Balls once per month to ensure they continue to filter properly - backwashing may not fully remove debris from Filtra Balls. Do not use clarifier products in your pool while using Filtra Media Balls, as doing so can ruin the media.

I never had such an easy time getting my water so clear so fast. I am super happy with this product so far. Usually when i open up the pool it goes from the usual green, To white opaque from adding chemicals and then slowly clear up with time after a week or so. After shocking my pool and adding the chemicals to kill everything and vacuuming all the debris, it skipped the white opaque part and went straight to clear. I could see bottom of the pool so fast. At the moment really happy. I am curious how easy or hard it will be to get the balls out at the end of the season. Will repost about that when i am there.

I bought these to try out on a Summer Waves above ground pool and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how well they work and how much money they have saved me already. Due to some major construction in my area including tearing down of the house next door I would have used about 12 A/C type filters in the last 3 weeks with all the dust flying around. But thanks to these filter balls my pool water is still crystal clear. It only took a third of the box to fill the Summer Waves filter and I've been washing the balls out regularly but they are still working great.

On my 3rd year with filter balls. Pool is much clearer...no small particles floating area. No need for clarifier. Backwashing is kept to a minimum as well. Cleaning was super easy - Removed the filter balls, rinsed them in a large bucket of clean water to remove the heavy stuff, placed them in our washing machine with bleach only and they came clean. If you are doing this in the fall you can dry them in the dryer and store in a plastic bag. Would highly recommended this product.

All the positive reviews are on the mark . I’ve been using them for almost a year and I add nothing to my unground pool . Mind you I run my pump 24/7 but it’s never been so trouble free . Best investment a person can make and this is coming from a person that never gives reviews

We purchased a home that had a sand filter for the pool, after some research I found you are supposed to replace the sand every 5 years or so. Based on the way they looked after things, this was probably never done in 20+ years. So on spring startup the second season I decided I needed to replace the sand & came across the Filtra balls. When I purchased them, I couldn't find any reviews but they weren't that much more vs actual filter sand & the specs seemed good so I took a chance & am glad I did. They do everything they claim, they filter far better then sand & leave the water crystal clear, they create less backpressure vs sand & are far easier to handle when you have to maintain them. The first season I didn't require an backwashing (pressure gauge basically didn't move all season, maybe increased by .5psi), the only reason I had to backwash a couple times was to remove additional water. I found at the end of the second season the pressure started creeping up & required backwashing. At the start of this season (my third season with the balls) the backpressure was creeping up a day after backwashing, so I knew I had an issue. They have changed the maintenance instructions on the balls & now say to remove & clean monthly, I had never removed & cleaned the balls after two full seasons (just over 4 months a season). I was just going to purchase new balls but figured I would try cleaning them first. I removed them & cleaned them first by hand with the hose & bucket (as they were nasty & didn't want them in the washing machine), then put them in the washing machine for a couple cycles. After putting them back in the filter, pool has been running for a month & pressure once again is low & rock solid. Based on my experience (unless you have a much dirtier pool), you can probably get away with a removal cleaning once a season & likely not require any backwashing during the season. Highly recommended, would never go back to sand.

Well first of all I received my order extremely fast , I ordered it on the 7th and received it on the 10th . I've been having trouble all spring to get my pool clear so I decided to give these filter balls a try and I could hardly believe the difference overnight , went from green to almost clear . so glad I decided to give these a try .

We replaced the pump/filter that came with pool with a sand filter and found the Filtra Balls. Our pool water has been so clear. It’s so easy to get it going and when it comes time to winterized I will be able to just pull the balls out of the filter wash them and store them until next year.

Fortunatelly I have forgot to get the water out from the filter in the first winter after purchasing the house so next spring I was forced to upgrade :D Already the 3rd season with Filtra Balls. Very impressed the first summer when we were out for 3 weeks and found the water crystal-clear when came back (pool covered, pump motor controlled over internet, live webcam showing the pool). I use one bucket of 8 kg of 3" chlorine tablets per season and according to the filter gauge there is no need to wash the filter during the summer so it's also a water-saver solution too. If you have to empty the filter it's much easier, cleaner and faster than with the sand. But, if there are cedars or lilac near the pool, it will be noooot easy to clean those balls! Maybe buy new ones... This is the only moment when I would prefer the sand :(

Amazing, with a hot summer like this one, everybody as problem with their pool. After many problem at the beginning of the season, I changed the sand for filtra balls and never had a water so clear for the past ten years. It took a couple of hours before getting clear and it still sparkling clean since then, almost two months now.

Nicole Girard - August 5th

After having a lot of algae problems over the past few years and spending mega bucks on chemicals this year I tried this ,it is about twice the price of sand but after two months of use It has already paid for itself in savings over what I paid for chemicals and the water is sparkling clean, I live on a gravel road and it gets really dusty during dry times but this stuff is amazing for filtering out the small particles will never go back to sand.
