A pool safety cover is a strong cover that stretches tightly across an inground pool and is secured to the surrounding deck using anchors, straps and springs.

Rather than simply resting on or near the water, the cover is held under tension above the pool. This creates a barrier between the pool water and the surrounding area while also protecting the pool from debris during the off-season.

Important: Although safety covers are designed to support significant weight, you should never intentionally walk, stand or play on one.

Pool Safety Cover vs. Winter Cover: What's the Difference?

The biggest difference between a safety cover and a basic Winter cover is their purpose and how they are secured.

Winter Cover

A traditional Winter cover is mainly used to protect the pool from leaves, debris and Winter weather. Depending on the type, it may rest on or close to the surface of the pool water and be secured around the outside of the pool.

Safety Cover

A safety cover is anchored to the pool deck and held tightly across the pool using straps and springs. Along with keeping debris out, it is designed to provide a more secure barrier over the water.

1. Added Safety During the Off-Season

Safety is the main reason many pool owners choose this type of cover.

Once the swimming season ends, the pool may not get the same daily attention it receives throughout the summer. A properly fitted and secured safety cover adds another barrier between the surrounding area and the pool water.
