Skirt Length

The skirt on a hot tub is a useful aesthetic feature which gives a tidy finish to the look of the hot tub when it is closed and assists in protecting the the outer lip of the spa from damage due to heat build up by allowing heat loss. If it is not measured correctly it will bunch up and push your spa cover open. A shorter skirt is generally a good idea in terms of maintenance and simply closure for spa covers. If you have wood rails then measure from the top of the wood rail to the top of the spa acrylic and subtract 1/4 inch to prevent bunching. If you do not have a wood rail then measure from the top of the spa to the bottom of the spa lip and add 1/2 inch.

Vapour Barrier

A hot tub vapour barrier consists of a thick plastic that is heat sealed around the foam inserts on a hot tub or spa cover and prevents water from getting into the foam inserts.

Add a Full Centre Cover Hinge Insulating Seal

Add a full hinge insulating seal to your hot tub cover; this upgrade dramatically reduces heat loss.

Strap Length

When measuring your strap length, start from the base of the cover and measure down to the top of the buckle - include your skirt measurement in the final number.

Measure from the edge of your spa inwards to the first strap - this is the Strap Location. If you're not sure, attach a drawing or sketch of your dimensions below. Note: straps cannot be centered on the sides that are cut in half for your fold.
